Help for Professionals

Just as Child Sexual Abuse can affect any child/adolescent, any professional who works with a child/adolescent may be the person who hears a disclosure of abuse. Disclosures can impact on professionals too, as they can be shocking and cause a wide range of emotions such as sadness, anger and hurt for the child/adolescent.

The CARI Helpline is often the first point of contact and support for any person or professional who has concerns about or is affected by child sexual abuse or sexualised behaviour.

Any professional can call the Helpline seeking practical advice about what they should do and the appropriate course of action to take. They can also use it to talk about their own feelings and/or any concerns they may have in relation to the details of the disclosure. Professionals can also enquire about or make a referral.
