Leading Limerick 5 Star Hotel, The Savoy, is holding their New Year’s Eve Gala Ball in aid of the CARI Foundation this year, says managing director, Ronan Branigan.

“CARI supports the most vulnerable in our society, children who have been sexually abused, and it is a privilege for us to help them fulfil this crucial role. CARI have been a part of the Limerick community since the early 1990’s.  This event offers the community a wonderful opportunity to play a part in funding their future.”

Mr Branigan says he’s been delighted with the response to the fundraising event plans. “We are going all out to ensure that it truly will be a New Year’s Eve to remember. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception on arrival to get the night off to a sparkling start. Ireland’s ‘Ambassador of Swing’, Liam O’Brien provides the entertainment, followed by an exquisite 6-course gourmet meal.”

“Celebrations continue throughout the evening with live entertainment and a DJ ringing in 2023 in spectacular style!”

Emer O’Neill, head of therapy with CARI Ireland, says they are sincerely grateful to the Savoy for choosing them as the recipients of this fundraiser. “As shocking as it seems, children are still being sexually abused, it is happening right now.  Fundraisers like the Savoy Gala Ball help us to shine a light back on these children and give them and their families the support and care they need.”

“Children as young as three must wait literally years to receive therapy for sexual abuse, and funds like these can cut waiting times. Here at CARI, we provide a warm and safe environment that children in therapy so they can express their feelings and make sense of horrific experiences.”

“Children use therapy in a variety of ways. Some talk and others use a range of media like paint, clay or toys to explore their feelings and develop a healthy way of coping with them. Therapy goes at the child’s pace and the child can have as much or as little time as they need.”

“We also have a Helpline – 0818 924567 – open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. It offers information, signposting and support to families impacted by child sexual abuse. We rely so heavily on the public to support our services. It is heart-warming to see the Savoy reaching out at this time of year, to provide such essential support!”
